Happy June everyone! The past month seemed to just whizz past so quickly. I’m actually wondering whether May even actually happened. Even though it’s a little bit late, I thought I’d share the bunch of things that I loved during the month. So here are the monthly favourites from May.
A binge-worthy thriller
All of the shows I watch seem to come from seeing people chatting on Twitter. I saw a few Tweets about Safe on Netflix, so I gave it a go. It reminded me a lot of Broadchurch, small community and shocking crimes. But that’s ok because I loved Broadchurch. Within the first few minutes, I was gripped instantly. There were so many twists and turns, that I had no idea where the plot was going to end.
The holy grail of brow products
I have been eyeing up Benefit’s Gimme Brow for months but when I first popped to Sephora, they told me there was a worldwide shortage?! So when I went to Dubai Mall and saw a whole window display dedicated to Gimme Brow, I held my breathe and went inside…It was back!
I’ve been using it everyday and it makes filling in my brows so much easier. The tiny spoolie means that every hair is caught and helps fill in my patchy AF eyebrows so naturally. It also means doing my eyebrows takes half the time!
The treats for your ears
My ‘may 2018‘ playlist ended up being 15 songs long. Apparently, May was full of musical goodness. Here the highlights are (which were very hard to pick):
Better by Weird Milk – An incredible track with dreamy melodies and silky smooth vocals that harmonise perfectly. It’s so easy to get lost in how mesmerising this track is.
Happy Man by Jungle – Firstly, yay for Jungle making music again! This track is utterly and effortlessly cool.
Velcro by Approachable Members of Your Local Community – I’ve found one of my new favourite bands in Approachable Members with their totally funky sounds. Velcro is so groovy with it’s psychedelic-inspired vibe.
Flowers by Lewis Bootle – I can’t believe this is Lewis Bootle’s second single because the vocals are so stunning and it is so wonderfully constructed.
Making my skin glorious
I’m obsessed with sheet masks, especially the Sephora ones. There are so many varieties and something for all skin types and needs! The pearl sheet mask for perfecting and brightening is one fave. It makes my skin feel nourished and leaves it looking gloriously brighter. I’m also loving the pomegranate eye patches because, after a long week, they make my eyes look more awake and less puffy.
The best night out
At the start of the month, the girls from work and I decided it was time for another ladies night. So this time, we decided to try ‘Girls Just Wanna Have Fun’ at Lucky Voice.
Now for those of you who haven’t experienced ladies night in Dubai, it’s event that most bars/clubs do at least once a week where women get to drink for free. Sound great already, right? But Lucky Voice was the best I’ve experienced.
It was free-flowing drinks all night long with 50% off their food and a private karaoke session. It was the best night I’ve had in a long time. We stuffed our faces with delicious polenta chips and hoisin duck pizza, drank free passionfruit martinis all night and wailed along to power ballads.
That yellow bag
Thank you Nine West (and my stepmum) for the most gorgeous bag known to man. The Orianna Cross Body Bag is literally my dream come true in bag form. You’d probably think ‘how much use can you get out of a yellow handbag?’ Well the answer is, a lot. It’s been the bag I’ve been choosing to take everywhere because it’s just such a beauty.
What things have you been loving this month? (I always need some more TV recommendations!)
