Here we are again, it’s time for another Monthly Music playlist! June has been blazing hot so here are some tracks that are equally as hot as the weather has been. Treat your ears and have a read…
The Emperor’s Lounge / Callow Saints
With rollicking riffs and gritty vocals, The Emperor’s Lounge from Callow Saints’ new EP is super punchy. It has an unashamed grungey, distorted sound which works perfectly to create an incredible track.
Yuk Foo / Wolf Alice
This track moves more towards Wolf Alice’s gritty and feral sound that was shown on My Love is Cool. Yuk Foo comes intensely kicking and crashing at you. It makes you feel like you’re being shaken around! Ellie Rowsell’s vocals are so fiery and piercing that they cut into you.
This Moment / Chase & Status and Blossoms
What an unexpected dream team… This track has such a seductive sound to it that is a move away from Chase & Status’ usual energetic sound. Their sounds work combine to make such a dreamy track that I can’t get enough of!
Pretty in the Morning / Safe to Swim
With an effortless and intricate entrance, Pretty in the Morning then erupts into a blazing and exhilarating chorus. It is a discussion of feeling lost that feels poignant and vulnerable. Jim Filippides’ slightly melancholy but still mesmerising vocals make this track so blissfully stunning.
Doing Me / Ray BLK
Ray BLK is such a goddess. I can’t get enough of everything she produces especially her new single Doing Me! It is such a self-assured and fresh track with R&B sounds, irresistible vocals and empowering lyrics all about doing you and ignoring the opinions’ of others.
Finders Keepers / Mabel ft. Kojo Funds
I am obsessed with the dancehall vibes that are everywhere currently, so Finders Keepers by Mabel is definitely a winner for me! Her voice is so sugary and syrupy smooth. This track is bouncy and catchy which makes it the perfect summer song!
True Say / Courts
There is something so nostalgic about Courts with an early-2000s/The Streets vibe! It is lively and vibrant with fresh hip-hop elements that I can’t get enough of.
Agnes / Glass Animals
Glass Animals just released Agnes from their album How to be a Human Being as a single. It’s a little more chilled out and smoother than their usual funky, dynamic sound. Yet this track is still stunning!
Grant Green / Mr Jukes
Jack Steadman’s, former frontman of Bombay Bicycle Club, new solo project (Mr Jukes) has taken over my life! The polished soul and jazz sounds of Grant Green are intoxicatingly smooth. I can’t wait to hear more from Mr Jukes!
Get Free / Leif Erikson
The song is totally invigorating and feel-good! Leif Erikson present an ode to freedom within Get Free which feels perfect for the summer months. It’s uplifting, textured and bold!
