Insert an obligatory ‘how is it already April? where is this year going?’ comment here. Sorry for this month’s playlist being a little bit later in the month, but second year is definitely a lot harder than first year. Who knows how I will cope in third year?! However, April’s playlist is probably even more varied than last month’s, which kind of makes up for the lateness…
Kicking off with Blonde’s new track featuring the one-and-only Craig David. Every song he is a part of is always an absolute banger and this is no exception. This song will probably be a soundtrack to my summer!
Next is Call You Home which is so chilled. It is obvious that Winter is long gone with my change in music choices. Kelvin Jones’ vocal tone is so lovely and calming.
Ah, now I can’t explain how much I am in love with this song. It’s not a new release, but it’s a new discovery (I did not know Idris Elba was a musician, as well as being the super sexy Luther). This song is so beautifully constructed and Maverick Saber’s tone is so incredible!
Most songs by Mura Musa are the perfect vibe for summer listening! With a mix of funky instrumentals and chilled vocals, I am obsessed with this single.
How could the new Biffy single not be included on this playlist?! With that typical combination of catchy lyrics, heavy riffs, and grungy vocals that Biffy have almost perfected, Wolves of Winter is a tune.
Brighton-based-foursome Safe to Swim recently released their first E.P. and I can’t stop listening to it all, especially the track Stop. There is something so raw and youthful about the whole E.P. that is so incredible intriguing.
Drake, Jay-Z, and Kanye all together on one song… How couldn’t I love this?! So catchy and well constructed.
Fade from Kanye’s new album The Life of Pablo is just so funky. Kanye did good on this song! It is produced so well and has such a flawless sound to it.
I would include the whole of the new album by The Last Shadow Puppets on this playlist, but I settled for choosing Dracula Teeth. The combination of Alex Turner and Miles Kane’s vocals are dreamily endearing. The 70’s vibes of this song are so groovy, I love it.
Last up is one of my favourite artists ever: Skepta! I was so excited to see that Skepta had a new single. And Man (Gang) definitely doesn’t disappoint with it’s heavy beats and catchy lyrics.

BIRTHDAY SOLACE
And so another year has passed me by
and once again I sigh a mournful sigh
as I recall the feelings of great joy
the passing seasons gave me as a boy.
