After reading the lovely Sophie’s Christmas bucketlist, I became insanely jealous that I couldn’t see the London Christmas lights or cosy up when it’s freezing outside. Christmas is my favourite time of the year, it gives me that warm and fuzzy feeling! Rather than dwelling on jealousy (never a good thing) or becoming totally homesick, I decided to make the most of the festive season in Dubai. So here is my bucketlist of all the wonderful festivities that I can take part in here.
1. Find a good Christmas market
Last weekend, we went to a Christmas market in Dubai which thoroughly disappointed all of us. There is always going to be something weird about a Christmas market in 25°c heat, but I expected much more festive goodness. I wanted buckets of mulled wine, decors galore and cute crafty stalls. Now, it is my mission to find the ultimate Christmas market in Dubai with everything needed to make me feel festive. Next stop is the Dubai Winter Festival!
2. Make the perfect hot chocolate
This one is slightly easier than going to every Christmas market until I’m satisfied. I just want a good hot chocolate! Giant toasted marshmallows, overflowing with cream and topped with chocolate shavings. I want to make a hot choc that is worthy of Instagram because what better way to feel festive?
3. See the Christmas tree in the Irish Village
So the Irish Village isn’t quite Covent Garden, but a giant Christmas tree surrounded by some pubs is close enough! I’m hoping this can be my alternative to the London lights. A giant Christmas tree all lit up with sparkly lights is so magical. Plus, I can follow it up with a pint in a cosy pub.
4. A visit from the boyfriend
After two months apart, my boyfriend is coming to visit. I want to make the most of his trip and do as many things as possible. We are going to watch Christmas films, go to the mall to do last-minute gift shopping and eat lots of Cinnabon. I am very excited!
5. Trying to become Nigella
I have been on Pinterest a lot recently. I’ve been finding Christmas crafts ideas but also sooo many baking recipes. So this year, I want to bake some Christmas goodies. I definitely want to bake and decorate gingerbread men. Plus, the more I bake, the more I get to eat which is never a bad thing.
Make sure to let me know in the comments what’s on your festive bucketlist and what you’re looking forward to!
