Welcome to the first of my monthly playlists. These are all the songs that I am currently loving and will undoubtedly be on repeat throughout this month.
Kicking off this month’s playlist is Tinie Tempah’s Been The Man which I’m a little late to discovering. Of course I’d love this song with two of my favourite grime artists featuring and the quick, witty lyrics.
Now, I never thought I would be the fan of something an ex-One Direction member created. However, ZAYN has managed to win me over because PILLOWTALK has been on a loop. This is totally one of those songs that people will be doing some bump n’ grind to.
Jake Bugg is kind of like Marmite and, personally, I love his first two albums so I was excited to see he’d released new material. Gimme the Love is so bleeding catchy and there’s a definite progression in his sound from his last album in 2013.
I wasn’t sure what I first thought when I heard Chase & Status teamed up with Slaves for Control, but they have succeeded with this song. The two sounds of these duos work perfectly to compliment each other in this angry and heavy social commentary.
Something completely different to the last track, and once again I am kind of late to the game, but Seafoal has one of the prettiest voices I have heard in a while. This combination of the electronic sound of Van Gogh with Seafoal’s almost-folk sounding vocals is so endearing.
ANTI just an all-round great album, but Needed Me is definitely the best track. With the smooth beats and catchy lyrics this song makes me dance about pretending I am as cool as Rihanna (I wish!).
Kano definitely does have a ‘new banger’ with the whole of Made in the Manner being such a great grime album! I cannot really explain how much I love 3 Wheel-ups but it has been on repeat since the album came out.
Soundcheck is just another example of how great Catfish and the Bottlemen are. The mixture of slightly grungy riffs and chilled tones of Van McCann’s vocals make me excited for their new album.
How did Kendrick Lamar manage to drop untitled unmastered without anybody knowing?! I’m itely not complaining because I needed more Kendrick in my life. untitled 03 05.28.2013 is so funky and the vocals are so smooth. I can’t explain my love for this song.
Rounding up the playlist is Operator (He Doesn’t Call Me) which is equally as funky as the song before. I only just discovered Låpsley, but I am already obsessed with her voice and this song.
